THE EMERGENCY E-RESPONSE
NOW SUPPORTS BULK SMS DELIVERY
Campus/Civil Evacuations Facilitated Through Mass SMS Notification to the Ubiquitous Cell Phone
As a response to the emerging rule of thought that SMS, rather than e-mail, is the most efficient way to deliver mass-message emergency notification in campus and educational settings, VoiceGate adds “Bulk” SMS delivery blasts to it’s emergency notification system’s multi-modal message delivery capability.
VoiceGate’s Emergency e-Response mass-message notification system is designed to open industry standards and capable of delivering messages to thousands of people simultaneously, on multiple devices: phone, cell phone, answering machine, voice mail, fax, SMS, pager, any internet ready device – and now, “bulk” SMS blasts.
The Emergency e-Response is an Emergency Notification/Business Continuity Planning tool built to Police and Military specifications and is capable of supporting GIS based automated notification campaigns. This feature is a critical component when managing emergencies within large campus settings. Geographic target areas can be selected on a mapped campus or area and the system will call and deliver messages to any phone, pager, cell phone, PDA, e-mail address, loud speaker or Giant Voice system located within that area where presence can be established.
VoiceGate’s mass message notification system has traditionally been deployed in business and mission critical settings where proof of message delivery and contact are absolute musts in these environments. “The idea where we simply blast a SMS to every contact on the system takes us away from our core system functionality design where we had to guarantee the intended recipient of our message has actually received it. In this case, calling and requesting and logging responses, as in an e-mail or voice campaign, takes a lot longer to deliver a message rather than blasting out and assuming we have successfully delivered a SMS message.” - says Paul Perryman President and COO VoiceGate Corporation. “There is a significant difference in blasting text messages in educational or campus environments when compared to executing voice based call and answer troop recall or rostering notifications. Most of the people we are contacting in a University, College and High School do not have cell phones or PDAs capable of receiving and replying to e-mail notifications, which is the fastest way to get a message out; however, most students have a cell phone capable of receiving a SMS message and that’s better than receiving no message at all.” - says Perryman.
SMS delivery capability to its Emergency e-Response solution will make its HIPPA and FERPA compliant system even more attractive as an Emergency Business Continuity Planning and Mass Message Notification tool when used to better facilitate High school lockdowns and University and College Campus evacuations.
